This fall has been a beautiful, warm, sunny autumn full of soft breezes and intense colour. It is the Indian summer I hope for every year. The one that fools me into thinking the warmth won't ever end, until a day like today begins and ends with a chill in the air. A day when the dark settles in by 6:30 pm. Alas, November and the promise of winter beckons. In only one week and one day from now I will be setting up for The Maker's Hand show and sale in Prince Edward County, Ontario. www.themakershand.com/ . My friend Carol King and I are sharing a spot under the name of Wool Worked and we have spent most of the past year making what we make, especially for this three day event. It's a first for us and we are quite excited but we also running around like crazy taking care of all the last minute details.
This is a local show for us in Picton and many of the other participating artisans come from further away. As local artisans we are being spoiled by the Prince Edward County Arts Council with some wonderful promotion in the local paper. This photo of the two of us was taken by the one and only 'Bald Photographer' of Cherry Valley, the lovely Graham Davies www.baldphotographer.com/ .
Next month I will post photos of our set up and display at the show. Everything we make is handmade with joyful energy and a love of what we do from start to finish. This post features the last of the makings because I am well and truly out of time. If you are in Prince Edward County November 1st, 2nd or 3rd be sure to drop into the Maker's Hand and say hello!

Rolags from Well Turned Out ~ for spinning and felting |
At the Wolfe Island Fibre Fest in September I met two lovely young women who were really into fibre and spinning. It makes me thrill to see creative and talented young people learning and practicing fibre arts. Andrea, on the right, creates these gorgeous carded rolags which are a feast for the eyes and a tactile sensation! See more of her work here: www.andrealehnen.com/ . How could I possibly resist?
